Friends of Virginia Beach Animal Control

Come Be a Part of the Effort!

walkngdogFriends of Virginia Beach Animal Control is always on the lookout for new members who would like to help make a difference in our city and change the luck of an adoptable pet that needs a new home.

We need volunteers who can dedicate as little as a few hours each month walking a dog or comforting a cat, to volunteers who would like to help us raise funds, supplies and awareness to the needs of companion animals in our city.

Friends of Virginia Beach Animal Control has accomplished a lot of great things in the short time we have been on the scene. We are attempting to make every effort to assist our municipal shelter in any way we possibly can to improve every facet of their operations.

Sadly, we realize that there will be cases when animals are taken into custody that are so sick, injured or aggressive that humane euthanasia is the only alternative. This sad fact is unfortunately a reality in the animal welfare community.

However, we  do look forward to the day when all pets are adopted from animal shelters and no healthy, adoptable pet is euthanized for the lack of an adoptive home.
